The Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo today observed Jammu & Kashmir Black Day to mark nearly
eight decades of suffering since Indian forces landed in Srinagar on 27 October 1947.
Addressing the commemorative event, speakers from different backgrounds including
journalists, academics and students underscored unilateral and illegal actions of 5 August 2019,
and highlighted the severe human rights violations, demographic shifts, and suppression of
fundamental freedoms inflicted upon the Kashmiri people. Speakers highlighted that the people
of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to be denied their
inalienable right to self-determination, as mandated by United Nations Security Council
resolutions.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering moral, political, and diplomatic support, the speakers called
upon the international community and human rights organizations to increase their
engagement, address the humanitarian crisis in IIOJK, and ensure a just, peaceful resolution in
accordance with UN resolutions. They pledged to continue championing the Kashmir cause at
every global forum.
In his remarks, the Ambassador paid rich tribute to their sacrifices in pursuit of justice, peace,
and dignity. He stated that the resilience and steadfast courage of generations of Kashmiris
remain unbroken despite relentless hardships. Despite relentless hardships and the continued
detention of political activists, the resilience and steadfast courage of generations of Kashmiris
remain unbroken.
