Port Said University held an energy consultation session in response to the President’s call to enhance the participation of academics and experts in discussing priority national issues. The session was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Petroleum and Mineral Resources.
Key participants included Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh, President of the University; Prof. Dr. Mohamed Kamel Farah, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Dr. Ahmed Sobhy, session coordinator, alongside a select group of energy professors and experts.

Prof. Dr. Sherif Saleh emphasized the alignment of the University’s strategic plan with national trends aimed at linking education and scientific research with the needs of society, industry, and the labor market. He reviewed the university’s research plan—which has entered the implementation phase—to serve Port Said Governorate, the Suez Canal Zone, and Sinai. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Kamel Farah stressed the importance of institutional dialogue between universities and executive bodies, while Dr. Ahmed Sobhy highlighted the university’s efforts to localize international expertise and translate it into practical applications.
The session discussed 3 main themes: energy security, demand, cost, and supply resilience; renewable energy, infrastructure, and efficiency; and resource value addition, investment, and partnerships. The session aimed to identify challenges and opportunities and propose actionable solutions that support development and connect scientific research with the needs of productive sectors.
