Art, Civilization and Cultural Tourism Come Together in an International Experience Bringing Artists to Egypt

Cairo is preparing to host the 7th International Sun Boats Symposium and Exhibition for Fine Arts, from October 10 to 16, 2026, with the participation of approximately 25 visual artists from Egypt and various countries around the world, representing around 20 countries.
The symposium is part of an artistic and cultural project that seeks to strengthen communication among artists from different cultures and present Egypt as a meeting point for art, civilization and cultural tourism through a program combining artistic practice with opportunities to discover Egypt’s rich cultural heritage.
The symposium takes its name, “Sun Boats,” from the symbolism of the Sun Boats in ancient Egyptian civilization, representing the journey, light and renewal. In the contemporary project, this symbolism becomes an artistic journey bringing together artists from different parts of the world in Cairo.
Three Days of Artistic Creation
The program includes an international art workshop on October 12, 13 and 14, during which participating artists will create artworks reflecting their experiences and the cultures of their respective countries, in an atmosphere of artistic and cultural dialogue and exchange.
The program will also include a number of cultural and tourism activities, including visits to the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Giza Pyramids, as well as a Nile cruise, giving participating artists the opportunity to experience firsthand aspects of Egyptian civilization and its contemporary cultural landscape.
A Closing Exhibition in Cairo
The symposium will culminate in an international art exhibition on October 15, 2026, presenting the artworks created during the symposium, with the participation of the artists, members of the artistic community, media representatives, and cultural and artistic figures.
The exhibition represents the final stage of the artistic experience, where the artworks move from the workshop and production phase into a public exhibition space, allowing them to interact with audiences.
Art as a Bridge Between Cultures
Ismail Bakr, Founder and Organizer of the Sun Boats International Symposium for Fine Arts, explains that the project is based on the idea of using art as a means of bringing people and cultures closer together by hosting artists from diverse cultural backgrounds in Egypt and providing them with an opportunity to discover Egyptian civilization and create artworks reflecting their personal perspectives on the experience.
Bakr emphasizes that “Sun Boats” is not simply an art exhibition project, but rather an ongoing platform for dialogue among artists, connecting visual art with cultural tourism and promoting Egypt as a destination for creativity and cultural exchange.
Cairo as a Meeting Point for Art
The seventh edition continues the journey of previous editions of the Sun Boats Symposium, which have brought together artists from Egypt and different countries, creating networks of artistic and cultural communication among them.
By combining the workshop, exhibition, cultural visits and tourism activities, the symposium offers an experience that goes beyond the traditional format of artistic events. Art becomes part of an integrated journey through which artists discover the place, its civilization and its people.
The program is scheduled to conclude with the participants’ departure from Cairo on October 16, 2026, following a week of artistic and cultural activities bringing together creativity and cultural exchange.
Sun Boats continues its journey from Egypt to the world, carrying a message that art is a universal language capable of bringing different cultures together around one common idea: humanity, creativity and dialogue.
